Countess
Sokolow

Strategic acquisition
of residential properties

Credentials

Born in Valencia, Spain, this spirited and determined woman embraced the belief that her challenging upbringing and modest origins would not impede her pursuit of a successful life. Possessing a quick and receptive mind, she received her education in London, Dallas, Texas, and France, which opened her eyes to a wealth of possibilities. She later honed her expertise in International Etiquette and Protocol under the guidance of the esteemed Doyenne of Decorum Letitia Baldridge, former Social Secretary to the White House.

Understanding the significance of continuous education, networking, and cultivating relationships, she initially served as a personal assistant for several notable international organizations and individuals, including the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Sir William Halcrow & Partners, Mercedes-Benz, and the Arab League in London. Following a series of relationships with some of the world's most affluent and influential men, she entered into a whirlwind marriage in 1990 with Sir Anthony Buck QC, the former Minister for the Royal Navy.

The subsequent high-profile divorce and media attention in 1993, after revelations of her association with Sir Peter Harding, then Chief of Defence, were followed by another marriage to Count Nicholas Sokolow. This union concluded after three years, during which she emerged as a steadfast advocate against injustices faced by women.

Her book, The Makings of a Modern Mistress (1996), was serialized in the UK's Daily Mail. A subsequent work, Powerplay, was translated into Spanish under the title Hazte Valer ("Value Yourself") and published in Spain in 2007.

A BLUEPRINT INTO THE FUTURE

In my own words:

"The ability to realise your dreams depends solely on the limit of your ambition"

"Love may fade but the power of money is one of the few global constants"

"Never become a hostage to your past. To succeed in life, you have to move forward, sometimes breaking away from the shackles of family and friends. If you constantly fall back on them, you will not learn the importance of standing on your own two feet. A safety net is a false security and a restriction on your independence"

"In the strategy of your life goal, look beyond the moment"

"True respect from a man is earned on merit, not acquired through fear, intimidation or humiliation"

"No one can become a victim without their permission"

"In the dynamics of power games, there is no room for romantic notion: if a woman wants romance she should read poetry"

GROWTH AND PROSPERITY

Through Growth and Justice We Will Prosper

In the 1980s, I relocated to Dallas, Texas, where I developed a moderate level of involvement in the oil and gas industries. During this time, I had the privilege of meeting with Ghazi Sultan, the Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Saudi Arabia, who later assumed the role of Chairman of Arabian American Development Co.

Subsequently, I formed a close friendship with the daughter of Sheikh Zaki Yamani, the then Chairman of OPEC. Through this relationship, I was granted membership to The Center for Global Energy Studies, which is located in Knightsbridge, London.

Concorde

SPEEDBIRD CONCORDE ONE

My inaugural flight on the remarkable Concorde was in February 1978, traveling from Bahrain to London. At the age of 21, I was struck by the rapidity with which my life had transformed from humble beginnings, to traveling at supersonic speeds across the globe. This experience was a testament to my education and tenacity in learning, and it had ultimately paid off.

Through my work as a Personal Assistant to Noel James Cochrane, senior Partner of Sir William Halcrow and Partners, I had gained immense respect and prestige. I was privileged to work with major players in the infrastructure sector of countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. Subsequently, through my connections with Aramco, I traveled on Concorde across the Atlantic on numerous occasions, covering all routes to the USA.

However, it is worth noting that I did miss an Air France flight to Rio de Janeiro, as my work and social life had become increasingly demanding. Nonetheless, I remained committed to excelling in my profession and was fortunate enough to have many more opportunities to travel on Concorde.

LONDON SCHOOL OF HYGIENE
AND TROPICAL MEDICINE

My first permanent position as a young girl, was at this London based prestigious university.

During my lunch brakes and after working hours, I would spend my spare time reading and engrossing myself in the library, I become fascinated in Human Nutrition. The Library in this facility has one of the best selection of academic reading material on Human Nutrition. It was due to my interest on the subject that led me to live a healthy life style and also allowing me to keep fit and slim.

My work, as an assistant in research and statistics, brought me into contact with two leading Doctors in their respective fields, Dr Charles Rhodes, Cardiovascular disease, and Professor Christian Bullpit, Imperial college, the latter became my mentor.

LIFESTYLE AND FASHION

Elegance is the Essence of prestige

“I define luxury as that which I know I have and no one can see”.

As a woman who considers herself her best investment, I live by a simple rule: "I never buy anything that can't be sold". This not only allows me to enjoy beauty, but also adds value to what I purchase, whether it's for short-term or lifetime use.

Fine lingerie, silk bedding, elegant surroundings, such as a beautiful home, contribute to one's positive mental state and well-being. As my dear friend and mentor Barbara Cartland said, "In ancient Greece, ladies of the upper echelons of society surrounded themselves with beautiful ornaments when pregnant. They believed that this made their newborns beautiful."

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Imperium Et Libertas

At the tender age of 17, I had the honor of entering the esteemed House of Lords, thanks to the guidance and support of Lady Edith Bird who became my mentor and tutor. The invitation to attend afternoon tea, organized by The Primrose League and graciously hosted by the former Prime Minister, Sir Alec Douglas-Home, proved to be a pivotal moment in my life.

Little did I know that years later, I would re-enter the same doors, albeit, through a different corridor, this time, The House Of Commons. After my marriage to Sir Antony Buck QC, the Palace of Westminister would become, for 3 years, a home away from home.
